Description of Foamed Silicone Characteristics and Handling Details
Foamed silicone is a two-component, heat-curing silicone rubber, appearing as a white or skin-colored oily liquid. After curing, it becomes a soft, elastic material, with a foaming volume 3-4 times the original. It can be used to produce flexible silicone products such as artificial body parts, shoe insoles, shoulder pads, patches, and anti-slip mats.
Liquid foamed silicone can be used long-term within a temperature range of -65°C to 200°C while maintaining its soft and elastic properties. It is environmentally friendly and non-toxic, certified by SGS, and offers excellent electrical performance and chemical stability. It is resistant to water, ozone, and climate aging, non-corrosive, physiologically inert, odorless, and features low linear shrinkage and easy handling.
Detailed Characteristics of Foamed Silicone:
1. High foaming ratio; uniform foaming and good stability.
2. Non-toxic, non-corrosive, and chemically inert.
3. Small, uniform, and fine foam pores.
4. Lightweight, elastic, and pleasant to the touch.
5. No migration phenomenon.
Handling Precautions for Foamed Silicone:
1. Thoroughly stir the raw materials separately before use to avoid uneven distribution due to storage.
2. Mix the curing agent and raw materials in a specific ratio, stir for 2-3 minutes to ensure uniform mixing.
3. Vacuum degas the mixed product and use it as soon as possible to avoid solidification affecting normal production.
4. Recommended ratio: Curing agent : Raw material = 1 : 1. Curing temperature: 120°C. Curing time: 13–20 min.
5. Tools, containers, and other items in contact with liquid silicone must be clean. Avoid contact with compounds of phosphorus (P), nitrogen (N), sulfur (S), and metal organics, as these may deactivate the catalyst and cause non-curing.
Foamed silicone should not come into contact with any other condensation-type silicone, as this may cause curing agent poisoning and prevent curing. Water, impurities, organic tin catalysts, acids, alkalis, and other sulfur-, phosphorus-, or nitrogen-containing organic substances can affect the curing of the silicone and must not be mixed or come into contact with these materials during use.
